If you decide that you would like to have me build your own personal or small business site built, where do you start ?

I find it helps to scribble things down on a piece of paper, just to get an idea and help you to plan it all out.

I can do the design for you, but the more input you have in the design, the more it becomes ‘your’ site.

1) Decide on how many pages you think you will need. (Home, about us, my dogs, pictures, show results, links etc) It can help to look at other sites of a similar nature, and see what pages they have. If you have several dogs, will they need a page each, or can they all go on one page for example.

2) Think about the colours and design you would like, do you want the page navigation to go along the top or down the side of the page, and would you like a banner at the top of every page or just the home page. Do you want pictures to be full size on the page, or would you prefer to have thumbnails that go to a full-page size picture when you click on them. Maybe you would like  a slide show. Do you want a guest book and a hit counter?

3) Make a note of the text you would like. I am happy to check the spelling and grammar, and jiggle it about a bit, so that it reads smoothly.

4) Gather together the pictures you would like, making notes on which page, you want them inserted and whereabouts in the text you want them to go.

5) Finally send it all to me, either by  or snail mail.

I will then do a design for the home page, making a template to your design, so that all of the pages have the same layout. When you are happy with the basic layout, I will complete the remaining pages. These will then be loaded onto a ‘preview’ site, which I will send you a link to access. If you want any changes made, now is the time to say, if you are happy with it all, the next stage is to buy a domain name and some web hosting for you, and get it all up and running. I can either do this for you, but will need the money for this up front, as I will obviously have to pay for it, or you can do this yourself and just give me the log in details, so that I can load your files onto the hosting server. I will also submit the site to search engines for you. This is the point when payment becomes due.

Once the files are uploaded, you just sit back and enjoy, and remember to tell all of your friends to take a look.

You can either choose to maintain the site yourself, or I will do updates and maintain it for you, for a small hourly fee.
